OCZ introduce the entry level 'Petrol' SSD

OCZ has released the Petrol SSD to its Octane range of SSDs. The Petrol SSDs feature a 2.5" form factor as is standard with most solid state drives. They are value orientated with pricing of $113, $187, $396 and $803 for the 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB models respectively.

The Petrol drives have been constructed using a SATA III 6GB/s interface along with Asynchronous NAND flash memory. Even though they are value orientated they are still backed by a healthy 3 year warranty and come with TRIM support to stop performance deteriorating over time and as capacity is filled. The speed of the models is as follows:

- 64 GB: 185 MB/s max sequential read and 75 MB/s max sequential write
- 128 GB: 360 MB/s max sequential read and 135 MB/s max sequential write
- 256 GB: 370 MB/s max sequential read and 240 MB/s max sequential write
- 512 GB: 370 MB/s max sequential read and 250 MB/s max sequential write
