Dead Island tops UK gaming charts

The game Dead Island has topped the UK gaming charts now since its release 2 weeks ago. The developers Deep Silver have never had a game sell this well before, in fact it has sold more copies in the first 2 weeks than any other game has sold in its entire lifetime. Dead island managed to hold off strong competition from Warhammer 40000: Space Marine and Resistance 3. It would seem the Zombie RPG game Dead Island is a big success although its lead is shrinking ahead of Warhammer 40k by THQ . The rest of the leaderboard hasn't changed much, no new entries into the top ten this week.
  1. Dead Island
  2. Warhammer: 40k: Space Marine
  3. Resistance 3
  4. Driver: San Francisco
  5. Deus Ex: Human Revolution
  6. Zumba Fitness
  7. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean
  8. Rugby World Cup 2011
  9. Lego Harry Potter
  10. Cars 2
If Dead Island can keep the top spot for a few more weeks it will be a huge success since it has the might of Sony's Resistance 3 and THQ's Warhammer bearing down upon it. It is even more of a success if you consider most high street outlets have raised the price from £39.99 to £47.99 to take advantage of the very high demand. Deep Silver shifted 1 million copies of Dead Island in North America a  further 1 million copies in the rest of the world. Next week is set to bring the total to 2 million for North America and similar figures will probably emerge for the rest of the world.
