Sapphire unveils its socket FM1 A75 motherboard

Sapphire unveiled its PT A8A75 motherboard today which will be part of the "Pure Platinum" series of motherboards. Interestingly enough this board is of the ATX form factor so is looking to provide decent performance at the low end price range of desktop units.

The board has a multitude of features to offer including:

  • 8+2 Phase VRM
  • 4 X DDR3 Slots (Dual Channel up to 1600MHz)
  • 1 X PCI-E 16X
  • 1 X PCI-E 4X
  • 2 X PCI-E 1X
  • 1 X PCI
  • 1 X mSATA
  • 4 X SATA III
Then in the Rear IO you have:
  • 1 X eSATA
  • 8 Channel HD Audio
  • 4 X USB 3.0 (2 front)
  • 6 X USB 2.0 (2 front)
  • 1 X Gigabit Ethernet
  • 1 X HDMI
  • 1 X D-Sub (VGA)
  • 1 X DVI
  • Bluetooth

Although this board is aimed at the low end desktop market it is interesting to note it still has voltage checkpoints for those people looking to indulge in some overclocking. This board seems to be designed for the masses, having only 1 PCI-E 16X slot it certainly won't appeal to the gamer looking to utilise SLI or Crossfire however there is room for 1 discrete card. The wide selection of connections however leave ample room to add tv, sound or RAID cards and the inclusion of SATA III, mSATA and USB 3.0 give this board high functionality for the everyday user.
