If the abnormally frequent Firefox releases are irritating you, then this will probably drive you crazy. Firefox has reached number 9 before the year is out, an impressive feat given the fact most people were using Firefox 3.6 at the start of 2011. Firefox 9 features a lot of new things which will improve the overall user experience such as:
- two finger swipe navigation for Mac OS X Lion
- support for querying Do Not Track status via JavaScript
- support for font-stretch
- improved support for text-overflow
- improved standards support for HTML5, MathML, and CSS
- fixes for several stability and security issue
- Type Inference which boosts JavaScript performance
The latest Firefox 9.0 download can be obtained for Windows, Mac OS and Linux. As for the renewed deal with Google there was much speculation that it would be cancelled and this could have been catastrophic for Mozilla given the fact this Google search deal provides Mozilla with more than 70% of its revenue. But Google renewed the deal for another 3 years giving both sides another long and profitable business relationship and hopefully Mozilla will be able to reduce its dependency on Google's revenue over the next 3 years.
