The emerging case manufacturer BitFenix today announced the newest addition in its range of PC cases. The BitFenix Merc is a mid tower ATX designed PC case with a fantastic price tag which will be a surprise to most consumers, just $39, 32.90 Euros or about £30 (all including VAT). For the fantastic price tag you get a very nicely designed case which has an abundance of cooling and expansion options.
Firstly the case is crafted from Steel and Plastic mainly with a brushed metal finish which is both black internally and externally. For those of you interested in the dimensions this case is planned to be 439mm by 190mm by 490mm which will see it support ATX, mATX and Mini-ITX boards depending on the consumers preference. On the front there are 3 External 5.25" bays and 1 External 3.5" bay. Internally you can find another six 3.5" bays and also a single dedicated 2.5" bay which is a nice addition.
Cooling is also quite impressive, although most of it is optional bays for cooling. The only included fan is a rear 120mm fan, whilst there is room for two 120mm fans at the front and two 120mm fans on the side panel. However, there is no room at the top for cooling fans since the roof is completely sealed. The back features 7 PCI slots for expansion which is pretty much the norm for mid-tower cases these days. And the front panel includes four USB 2.0 ports, the usual audio jacks plus your activity LEDs, power and reset buttons.
